Alexandra Daddario Talks Percy Jackson Disney+ Series and the Chances of Her Return

Alexandra Daddario has shared her thoughts on the upcoming Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians—and fans hoping to see her return as Annabeth Chase may not want to get their hopes up just yet.

With Hollywood continuing to revisit popular franchises, fans often wonder whether the original stars will return when beloved movies are remade or reimagined for television. That includes fans of Rick Riordan’s bestselling Percy Jackson book series, which was previously adapted into the films Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief in 2010 and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters in 2013.

Alexandra Daddario, who played Annabeth Chase in both films, recently addressed the possibility of appearing in the upcoming Disney+ series during an interview on WrapWomen’s UnWrapped podcast.

Her answer was short and clear.

“No!” Daddario said with a laugh.

Alexandra Daddario Has Fond Memories of Percy Jackson

Although she does not expect to be involved with the new series, Daddario made it clear that she looks back on her Percy Jackson experience with enormous gratitude.

“I loved Percy Jackson. Like, I loved it,” the actress said.

Daddario explained that when she landed the role of Annabeth Chase, she was still a young actress trying to find her place in the entertainment industry.

“When I stepped into Percy Jackson and got that job, I had no idea what it was,” she recalled. “I was like, a bit part actor in New York City. I was a kid, I was working at a bar, I didn’t have any idea of Hollywood or all of this stuff.”

She added that although she knew the project was a major movie, she could not have predicted the impact the experience would have on her life and career.

“It was the most amazing experience for a 22/23-year-old to have,” Daddario said.

The actress also praised director Chris Columbus and the film’s producing partners for supporting her during the early stages of her career.

“Chris Columbus, who directed it, and his producing partners were so supportive. I’m eternally grateful to them,” she said. “I learned so much and I’ve gone on to have a career in the business that I wanted to have. And that’s amazing.”

Daddario Is Ready to Pass the Torch to a New Annabeth

While Alexandra Daddario does not appear to be planning a return to the franchise, she is excited about the next generation of actors who will bring the characters to life.

“I am so excited for the kids that are going to be cast in that and how they’ll inspire a new generation of young women,” she said.

Daddario also spoke about the importance of Annabeth Chase as a character, describing her as an inspiration to fans around the world.

“It’s so cool. Annabeth is a really inspiring character to people,” she added.

However, the actress admitted that she does not know much about the upcoming series and believes that is exactly how it should be.

“But no, I don’t know anything about it beyond that, and I shouldn’t! I was just the girl in the movie,” she said.

A New Era for Percy Jackson

The upcoming Disney+ adaptation offers fans a fresh opportunity to experience Rick Riordan’s world of Greek mythology, friendship and adventure. While the original films remain an important part of the franchise’s history, the new series is expected to introduce the story to a new generation.

For Alexandra Daddario, however, the time has come to let a new Annabeth Chase take the spotlight.

Although fans may be disappointed that she does not currently expect to return, her enthusiasm for the new cast and the character’s continued influence suggests that Daddario is proud of the role she helped bring to life.
